While working on my mini project1, I was thinking that what kind of learning interventions will I consider in my course. I kept in my mind –“ In developing any educational program, it is important to first define learning goals.
These can be used to help guide the selection of teaching methods and learning activities that are most appropriate to achieve these goals (Bloom, 1984; Gagne et al, 1992)In developing any educational program, it is important to first define learning goals. Thus, Learning interventions need to be engaging, because without learner engagement there’s very little chance that any meaningful learning will take place. A primary teacher gets her/his little ones involved in the class through variety of ideas-asking questions, games, peer tutoring and reading comprehension.
Engaging interventions attract and maintain interest, they arouse the emotions, and they are full of energy. This goes for online learners as well. Peer review, forum participation, chat room, email exchange etc help in learning and getting to know each other. This avoids the ubiquitous loneliness of the long-distance learner. Some corporate giants have even included games so as to ensure the learning outcomes. Collaborative working is another tool of learning which builds team work and long lasting relationships.
